Spell Unka (Demo)
A downloadable game for Windows
'Spell Unka' is my idea for a retro style platform exploration game based on the classic arcade cabinet games of the early 80's.
Inspiration has been taken from classic games, such as Pitfall and of course Spelunker, 80's / 90's movies & TV, and other nerdy sources...
Movie, TV and video game related references and homages can be found throughout with many more planned!
You play as Doug McGrave an archaeologist come adventurer who, whilst exploring in the deepest, darkest jungles of Peru, has uncovered the entrance to the ancient temple of UNKA...
Who or what are the UNKA?
Only the bravest of adventurers can possibly uncover that secret!
The game is being developed using Gdevelop5 and started out as just a test of my abilities to create games, it was never intended to be a full release, however I am beginning to get attached to it and considering continuing on to a full game if I can find both the time and motivation to do so...
Even though I know that I have an awful long way to go to make a finished game if I do decide to complete it, I'd love to hear what you guys think of it so far...
I'm sure there will still be a few glitches and bugs, please let me know any issues that you may encounter whilst playing the game and I will try to iron them out if possible.
KEYBOARD CONTROLS
1 = Insert coin
S = Scanline On/Off
B = Bezel (Arcade Surround)
M = Music On/Off
F4 = Suicide / Give up (Lose 1 life)
P or Esc = Pause, Toggle Item screen (During play)
Arrow keys = Left, Right, Up, Down
Space bar = Start/Jump
Arrow Down and Space together to drop a bomb
Arrow Down and Space to jump through log platforms
GAMEPAD CONTROLS (Xbox 360)
Select = Insert Coin
Start = Start, Pause, Toggle item screen (During play)
D-pad = Left, Right, Up, Down
A = Jump
D-pad Down and A together to drop a bomb
I have updated a few things due to player suggestions and feedback...
Latest updates include:
* New enemy - Snake
* Poison damage and icon
* Jump-Kill mechanic (Gain extra height from kill bouncing)
* Combo kill multiplier score
* Array of new sound effects
* Air bubbles that enable sustained breath underwater
* Transparent water
* Air bubble surface ripple
